- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or relevant compliance certification non-negotiable
- 3-5 years relevant risk and compliance experience
- Experience working with Regulators - Gambling Boards, FIC and Information Regulator
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to build strategic relationships and partnerships
- Must have strong analytical skills and a penchant for attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and able to work with high degree of independence, proactive approach to identify and drive and improve processes
- Ability to grasp new laws and concepts
- Ability to read, analyse, and interpret gambling rules and regulations
- Ability to analyse information and procedures from an operational perspective, identify any relevant concerns and formulate or provide input for solutions
- Ability to manage multi-faceted projects to a successful conclusion
- Ability to respond to inquiries or requests from regulatory boards professionally
- Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognise standards required by business
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications
Responsibilities: (Essential Functions include but not limited to)
- Perform legal reviews, drafting agreements and providing legal advice and opinions on Company contracts
- Provide compliance with regard to gambling board legislation and licence conditions and overseeing gambling board audits
- Monitor, manage and assess the Company’s risk processes in terms of POPIA, FICA and gambling legislation
- Assisting various divisions with regard to day-to-day operational matters insofar as they pertain to legal, compliance and risk matters
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all statutory licensing requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, and agreements
- Ensure uniform application of licensing eligibility requirements in determinations and maintain and update standards for licensing determinations
- Ensure key employee and gambling license renewals for the Race-meeting, Totalisator and Bookmaking businesses
- Assist with any ad hoc requirements
