Job Description
Assistant Manager (focus on F & B)
We are seeking a person with leadership qualities that will be able to be actively involved in the day to day operations and managing the team of this beautiful property. Must be able to work closely with the GM in leading the team to reach the hotels objectives.
Stepping into an overall leadership role, especially when the GM is not available. Heading up the FOH team and ensuring that the waiters provide excellent service in the restaurant. Training of new FOH staff and ongoing training for current staff i.e. general service, wines & wine service, computer skills. Overseeing maintenance & liaising with maintenance team and contractors. Staff rosters. Overseeing of restaurant on a whole. Take full control of the beverage department – orders / weekly & monthly stock counts / reporting on beverage figures and problem solving if figures are not in line with budgets. Monthly stock takes of crockery / cutlery & any other equipment related to service. Work closely with the GM during & leading up to functions such as weddings & conferences, to ensure all set ups and staffing requirements are well planned.
We work on HTI systems – Eres, Apex & Pluspoint. However, it is not essential that the candidate knows these systems. So long as they have experience on hotel management & point of sale systems, we will provide training for HTI.
Salaries / working hours may be adjusted in accordance with various lockdown levels which would affect hotel operations. There are 2 Assistant Managers who usually work opposite shifts and share the duties described above.

Qualifications
Formal Hospitality/Food and Beverage Qualifications will prove an advantage.
Skills
Candidate must be neat, presentable and able to deal with hotel guests and day visitors of all nationalities. Well spoken in English, computer literate. A “can do” attitude and team player is a must. Previous experience in a 5 * environment is preferable. Must have exceptional attention to detail. Must have knowledge / or be prepared to be trained on all booking / rooms management / POS systems. Driver''s License Essential.
Salary / Package
R 14 000 to R 17 000 per month Gross, depending on experience
Benefits
The position is live in (single person accommodation, no pets – unfortunately not negotiable and live out is extremely tricky as rents in the area are astronomical). Meals provided. 6 days off per month, and 21 days annual leave. This position does not accumulate overtime, and days off will be given in lieu of any Public Holidays worked (or paid out if we are unable to give extra days off).
