Job Description
Must be versatile and able to work across all the legal services that the firm provides to its clients but mostly in Commercial law.
The firm’s commercial and corporate law department focus’ on the specific requirements of their clients’ businesses and are acutely aware of the need to understand the commercial space in which their clients operate. Their highly skilled attorneys have the necessary experience to draft a wide range of commercial agreements.
Rather than an ‘off the shelf’ approach, they supply tailormade solutions that meet the specific needs of their clients. Their skillset includes drafting the following legal documents:
- Shareholders agreements;
- Memoranda of Incorporation;
- Sale of shares agreements;
- Subscription agreements;
- Finance agreements;
- Instalment sale agreements;
- Funding agreements;
- Development agreements;
- Loan agreements;
- Memoranda of understanding;
- Asset for shares agreements;
- Terms and conditions;
- Joint venture agreements;
- Service level agreements;
- Sale agreements;
- Supply agreements;
- Cessions and assignments;
- Suretyship agreements; and
- Acknowledgement of debt agreements.
Focus needs to be commercial as this is where most of the firm’s work currently lies but the candidate should be able to litigate as well. The firm does litigation but is currently a 70/30 split in favour of commercial law.
Qualifications
LLB Degree (or Equivalent). Admitted Attorney.
Skills
Strong Administratively. Exceptional work ethic. Able to liaise well with Clients. Minimum 2 years plus Commercial Law experience and able to litigate as well. Strong drafting skills. Own Transport. Must be diligent and a perfectionist with a good work ethic; Administratively strong – This is crucially important; Team player / comfortable with people and good with clients; Must be happy to work under and to report into the Directors on a daily basis; We will consider various levels of experience, but probably subject to ability, a minimum of at least two years post articles experience; need to be used to pressure - dropping one urgent thing to start another and then picking up again.
Salary / Package
R25,000-R40,000 dependent on level of experience/offering to business

We need to be conservative on salary, but anyone with own clients / practice can determine what they will earn going forward.
