Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of Matric
  • Post Matric qualification highly advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the retail sales sector (hardware and tooling)
  • Good understanding of sales cycle and key account management
  • Sound knowledge of the retail sector
  • Product knowledge of hardware and tooling products
  • Good business acumen (numeracy skills, generation of priofit ant loss, cash flow, margin)
  • Excellent selling skills
  • Above average data analysis skills
  • Ability to trust and build customer loyalty
  • Problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy – MS Office and Outlook
  • Customer orientation
  • Results orientated and attention to detail
  • Own vehicle and valid drivers license - willing to travel
  • must be vaccinated 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Ensure yield on revenue sold is at the required level of gross profit
  • Increase turnover of existing customers across the entire account base by upselling and cross selling
  • Identify opportunities to win business
  • Analyse rate of sale per product and suggest opportunities
  • Ability to negotiate a win/win business solution in meeting client needs
  • Work with sales or marketing contacts in retail outlets
  • Encourage customers to participate in launch of new products/brands, promotional campaigns or joint marketing programs
  • Provide feedback to management
  • Plan special promotions in retail outlets to coincide with their company’s advertising and marketing campaigns
  • Research and gather information about potential product ranges
  • Ensure knowledge and understanding of client business
  • Build trust and confidence with customer throughout reliable and consistent service delivery and retail and product knowledge
  • Resolve complaints and queries effectively
  • Oversee Merchandiser in the store
  • Identify and report revenue per SKU as well as per square meter
  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of merchandising
  • Complete and submit a comprehensive monthly customer call cycle planner
  • Determine training needs and provide relevant training on product benefits and new lines to sales staff
  • Attend sales and product knowledge training sessions
  • Coordinate tender or project quotations with the Quotations Clerk
