Accountant - Germiston

SUMMARY:
A leading Waste Management company is seeking the services of a Accountant for a permanent role at its Head Office in Germiston.

POSITION INFO:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts while providing critical support across the finance function. As an Accountant, you will oversee controls, compliance, and manage key financial close activities, ensuring alignment with both internal and Group standards.

RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO  KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

FINANCIAL AND MANAGEMENT

Responsible for:

• Guarantee completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all accounting actuals
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of intercompany & Interdepot transactions and reconciliation.
• Daily and monthly general ledger review and ad hoc journal processing
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in financial processes. Support management team with actionable insights.
• Assist in ensuring compliance of internal and external financial controls
• Oversee Processing of purchase invoices, preparing payment runs and submission of Payment requests
• Petty Cash Management- Review and ensure compliance with Petty Cash Policy
• Assistance with month end and Year End Stock takes
• Maintaining Divisional Fixed Assets Register
• Accurate reporting of Revenue and associated tonnages
• Assist with Budget and Forecasts for the division
• Ensure divisional revenue completeness
• KPIs Reporting
• Improve business profitability through thorough cost analysis
• Managing and reporting on the cost/revenue per ton for Facilities
• Ensure accuracy of construction projects WIP accounts and alignment of cost with the BOQs
• Ensure proper document keeping for the projects
• WIP account reconciliation
• Capex Budget Vs Actual analysis

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• 3 Years in Experience in an Accounting Role
• Degree in Accounting
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial formulae
• Knowledge & experience of Dynamics 365
• Analytical ability
• Compliance to relevant ISO 14001 procedures
