SUMMARY:

A leader in the production and supply of agricultural and cold chain food products is seeking an experienced Animal Nutritionist to develop and optimise animal nutrition formulations and specifications in line with company goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a degree in Animal Sciences with experience in production systems
A Post Graduate degree in Animal Nutrition would be an added advantage
Minimum 5 years’ experience in animal nutrition will be required
Must have experience in maximising economic output through the manipulation of nutrition and production parameters
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work influentially across interfaces are important
Must have excellent analytical and report writing skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including the ability to professionally interact with people at all levels are essential
Experience in formulation software, i.e. Format or Spesfeed would be ideal
Training in ISO 9001, 22000 certification standards or HACCP and GMP will be advantageous

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Performing monogastric feed formulation and reformulation in order to minimize cost per kilogram of production.
Developing and formulating optimised macro packs, concentrates and final feeds.
Developing feed specifications in line with company goals.
Maintaining and reviewing the formulation and ingredient nutrient matrix as required, ensuring RM specifications are up-to-date at all times.
Responsible for quality control, analysis and interpretation of trial data and preparations of final reports, related to feed formulation and feed concepts.
Managing the procurement and negotiation process with raw material suppliers.
Maintaining and supporting the current ISO 22000 (Food Safety) certifications.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience
