Job Description
Purpose: As an Area Manager overseeing operations and compliance, you are crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of multiple retail stores within your assigned region. Your diverse skill set encompasses various responsibilities, including monitoring sales performance, maintaining compliance standards, and enhancing operational efficiency. Here’s a detailed overview of your primary responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sales Strategy and Performance Monitoring:

Strategically assess the sales performance across all stores in your area.
Analyze weekly and monthly sales reports to spot trends and opportunities.
Collaborate with store managers to create actionable plans for meeting targets.
Implement effective sales strategies to boost revenue and achieve objectives.
• Workforce Planning and HR Support:

Develop staffing schedules that align with budgetary constraints and demand variations.
Assist store managers with HR-related tasks, including recruitment, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
Promote a positive work environment by encouraging employee development and engagement.
• Operational Excellence:

Serve as the main contact for store managers to address operational challenges and resolve issues swiftly.
Ensure stores adhere to company policies, protocols, and guidelines.
Oversee maintenance activities in stores, escalating urgent issues for prompt resolution.
• Compliance and Auditing:

Conduct compliance assessments focusing on banking, cash management, and cash-related activities.
Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure thorough Department of Labor (DOL) audits are conducted in stores.
Uphold Health & Safety protocols to safeguard both employees and customers.
• Brand Consistency:

Ensure a consistent and distinctive brand appearance across all stores.
Work with Visual Managers to adhere to the brand’s visual merchandising guidelines.
• Industry Awareness and Adaptation:

Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in retail management.
Adapt strategies to stay aligned with shifting market conditions and consumer preferences.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Experience: 3 – 5 years in Retail
Expertise in store processes, process improvement, and implementation
Project Management skills
Experience in handling Industrial Relations (IR) matters
Proficiency in workforce scheduling
Knowledge of Health and Safety protocols at the store level
Experience in compliance audits
Education:

Grade 12 / Standard 10
Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English; a third language is an advantage
Tertiary National Diploma in Retail Management or Business Management
