Assistant Financial Accountant

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Custodian of the Balance Sheet: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all balance sheet accounts, conducting regular reconciliations and reviews.
• Maintain Ledger Integrity: Support the coding and posting of transactions to ensure accurate financial records.
• Asset Management: Assist in maintaining fixed asset registers and tracking depreciation schedules.
• Monthly Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and other key accounts to identify discrepancies.
• Support Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring balance sheet accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
• VAT Compliance: Assist with the preparation of monthly VAT turnover reconciliations and the submission of VAT 201 forms.
• Documentation for Audits: Assist in the preparation of documentation for SARS audits and support the audit file preparation process.

• Relevant bookkeeping/accounting qualifications
• BCom Accounting/Finance degree advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting role, ideally in a small to medium-sized business, is preferred.
• Basic understanding of financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with XERO; knowledge of Spotlight Reporting is a bonus.
• Proficiency in Excel, including basic functions and pivot tables.
