Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management:
   
   • Oversee all daily operations of the lodge, including front office, guest services, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance.
   • Ensure that the lodge is operating efficiently, with a focus on guest satisfaction and staff management.
   • Work closely with the General Manager to implement policies and procedures.
2. Guest Experience:
   
   • Ensure an exceptional guest experience by maintaining 5-star standards in all aspects of hospitality.
   • Address guest complaints, special requests, and feedback promptly and professionally.
   • Oversee check-in and check-out processes, as well as dining and activity arrangements.
3. Staff Management:
   
   • Assist in hiring, training, and managing lodge staff to ensure high performance and morale.
   • Create staff schedules and oversee shift rotations, ensuring all departments are well-staffed.
   • Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure adherence to safety and service standards.
4. Financial Management:
   
   • Monitor budgets and expenses, and assist with financial planning and reporting.
   • Help manage inventory, ordering, and stock control for food & beverage, housekeeping, and other departments.
   • Ensure cost controls are in place to maximize profitability without compromising quality.
5. Health & Safety Compliance:
   
   • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
   • Oversee lodge security and safety procedures for both guests and staff.
6. Maintenance and Upkeep:
   
   • Work with the maintenance team to ensure that the lodge’s facilities and equipment are in excellent condition.
   • Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance to avoid costly repairs.
7. Lodge Marketing & Sales Support:
   
   • Support marketing initiatives aimed at increasing lodge occupancy and revenue.
   • Work with the reservations and sales team to ensure smooth bookings and provide feedback on guest preferences or trends.
8. Conservation & Sustainability:
   
   • Support the lodge’s conservation efforts and ensure sustainable practices are upheld.
   • Coordinate guest activities related to the natural environment, including game drives, bush walks, and other safari-related experiences.

POSITION INFO:

• Diploma or Degree in Hospitality or equivalent preferred but not essential.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in managing high-end safari lodges
• Professional demeanour, maturity, and excellent presentation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong passion for nature and activities related to the lodge's location
• Must have own transportation and a valid driver's license
• Knowledgeable about wine and food
• Exceptional skills in staff and guest relations
• Ability to multitask, adapt to changing business needs, and think critically
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• High attention to detail
