POSITION INFO:

Company Overview: A leading abrasive manufacturing company utilizing cutting-edge technologies to produce high-tech scrims for reinforcement in cutting and grinding wheels is seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Production Manager. The successful candidate will support the Production Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production department, aligning processes with the company’s strategic goals.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of production experience.
• 3+ years in a supervisory or management support role.
• Experience in impregnation, stenter environment, or wet processing.
• A relevant production, chemical, or engineering qualification.
• Grade 12 with Mathematics.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems and Health & Safety protocols.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to support and motivate teams.
• Proven track record in assisting production management within a manufacturing environment.
• Technical expertise in both chemical and mechanical processes relevant to glass fiber and resin production.
• Ability to support process improvements and manage complex production challenges.
• High attention to detail with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production unit, ensuring that production schedules are met with high efficiency and quality.
• Support the management of production processes to achieve targets and maintain cost efficiencies in line with annual budgets.
• Lead, mentor, and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, ISO Quality Management Systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring effective inventory controls and stock management practices.
• Maintain a safe and compliant working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and company policies.
