Associate Lecturer/Lecturer:Computing Science

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The Department of Computing Sciences (CS) is looking to fill a position of Associate Lecturer/Lecturer within the department with an enthusiastic, forward-thinking person who will contribute to the vision and mission of the Department. The field of Computing Sciences includes Computer Science or Information Systems. There are three key areas of performance that academic staff members in the department need to meet, namely: 1) learning and

teaching; 2) engagement and 3) research in the Department's research areas. The main purpose of this post is therefore to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in modules presented by the Department at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, to supervise Postgraduate students, to do research, to contribute to

community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Learning and Teaching

• •  Facilitate learning and teaching for assigned module(s) in accordance with the principles of good teaching practice, which includes material development, engaging with students and module administration;

• •  Evaluate and reflect on the quality of own teaching and assessment;

• •   Develop and review new modules/curricula and

• •  Demonstrate knowledge of and skills in providing effective learning and teaching opportunities.

Research

• •  Provide research supervision to Postgraduate students;

• •   Management of national and international research projects for the Department and

• •  Generate research outputs for publication in the Department's research areas, available on request.

Engagement

• •   Contribute to the school career events and marketing events; and

• •  Contribute to external engagement of the Department particularly related to social outreach.
