JOB DESCRIPTION:

BOARD REGULATORY COMPLIANCE AND LEGAL COMMITTEE

 

 

 

KEY OUTPUTS:

ü  The Regulatory Compliance and Legal Committee is a Committee charged with the duty to ensure that the Board advises the Minister on issuing the licence to conduct the National Lottery, as well as ensure that the National Lottery and sports pools are conducted with all due propriety and strictly in accordance with the Constitution, the Lotteries Act, all other applicable law and the licence for the National Lottery together with any agreement pertaining to that licence.

ü  The Committee is also expected to provide assurance to the Board that the NLC is fulfilling its primary regulatory mandate, that is to ensure that the interests of every participant in the National Lottery are adequately protected.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

ü  Preferred Master’s or PhD degree within a relevant discipline (science, economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, pharmacology, public health)

ü  Extensive Gaming and/or Lottery industry consulting experience

ü  Experience with gaming-economic modeling and development of retrospective database statistical analysis plans

ü  Experience of management of development of state-of-the-art reporting that allows effective cost of gaming trend drivers (both retrospectively and prospectively) and developing communication strategies for effective distributed to all material stakeholders.

ü  Expertise in the design and development of statistically valid tests for internal and external assumptions for gaming and regulatory cost savings. Design methods that consider the justifiable causes for variation in viability of gaming operations.

 

 

 

TERM OF OFFICE AND REMUNERATION:

ü  The term of office is three (3) years and a contract will be entered into.

ü  Remuneration will be determined as stipulated in the NLC Board Code of Conduct.

 

 

 

ABOUT NLC

The National Lotteries Commission (NLC), a Scheduled 3A entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), is a statutory body established in terms of the Lotteries Act (Act 57 of 1997), as amended with the purpose of regulating South African Lotteries and administering the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).
