Buyer Civils (Bryanston)

SUMMARY:
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
Responsible for ensuring that the most cost‐effective, quality assured and appropriate materials are purchased. Works closely with the commercial team and site management team to ensure that the materials required for all projects are provided to schedule and according to project budgets.  

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Diploma/Degree in Finance / Supply Chain Management or equivalent 
• Microsoft suite (MS Office, MS Word, etc.) 

• Minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in a Procurement/Buying role.  

• Analyse the technical specifications in tenders and source competitive pricing from 
• the market 
• Ensure that the split bill of quantities is logical prior to sending out to the market 
• Obtain quotations relative to the tender requirements 
• Analyse quotations against the tender requirements 
• Engage service providers to ensure understanding of the assumptions made by the service provider in producing the quotation. 
• Negotiate with service providers to ensure best value for money 
• Compile comprehensive buying file and timeously submit to Estimator 

• Analyse the industry and source quality and cost-effective suppliers 
• Ensure that the supply chain is B-BBEE compliant 
• Negotiate purchase orders with suppliers to optimise profit potential for the business 
• Execute and manage supplier purchase orders 
• Ensure accuracy of cost codes, task codes etc. on order requisitions

• Contribute to the formulation of the procurement budget 
• Monitor purchases against the applicable budget 
• Manage the administration of purchase orders and supplier invoice payment

• Identify potential procurement risks in the project scope 
• Report risks to Operations and Estimating Team 
• Manage the procurement risk schedule throughout the lifecycle of the projects 

• Perform supplier evaluations, development and relationship management 
• Manage supplier complaints and risks
