Job Description
The Head Chef will be responsible for the following:
All food production (including that used for restaurants, functions etc) to develop menus, costing of menus, recipes, to supervise staff, to develop and monitor the food budget for the Kitchen. To maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards, Responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen, Head Chef to be visible on the floor during meal times to interact with guests, Ensure that Guest queries and complaints are being dealt with in an efficient and courteous manner Achieve guest satisfaction, Ability to take control in a calm manner while under pressure, Motivate staff, Creative, Planning of menus and costing, Compare prices of stock and ingredients with suppliers, Ensure that all standards and SOP’s are adhered to, Regular training of staff, Ensure kitchen hygiene is being adhered to at all times, Track wastages daily, Stock takes, Coffee consumption reports, Check all deliveries, all goods to be of good quality, goods to be weighed, Ensure the reprocessing of food implemented and managed.
Qualifications
- Matric
- Diploma in Professional Cookery
Skills
Minimum 5 years experience in a Hotel environment, Valid South African driver’s license, Working knowledge of various computer software programs, Comply with Health and Safety Regulations, Microsoft Office.
