SUMMARY:
Are you an experienced financial professional with a passion for education? A leading private school is looking for a skilled Campus Bursar / Accountant to join their team. This role oversees the financial operations of the campus, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and support for the institution’s educational goals.

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications and Skills Required:

Relevant qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field (e.g., BCom, BCompt, or a Financial Diploma).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role; experience in the education sector is advantageous.
Proficiency in financial management software (Pastel 9 preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for interacting with parents, staff, and pupils.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the financial administration of the school, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Prepare and manage annual budgets, including special campus events, tours, and recoveries.
Monitor expenditure against budgets and provide variance analysis to leadership.
Handle payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
Manage and reconcile student billing, including ad hoc items such as music, transport, and aftercare.
Administer repayment plans and monitor outstanding debts, liaising with parents to resolve queries.
Manage procurement processes, including placing purchase orders and monitoring supplier invoices.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, statutory requirements, and organisational regulations.
Control petty cash, reconcile payments, and monitor monthly campus charges (e.g., rent, utilities).
Collaborate with the Principal and Brand Finance Manager to align financial strategies with the institution’s goals.
