Well-established Estate based in the Eastern Cape are seeking a Farm Manager to oversee all aspects of farm operations. If you are passionate about agriculture and have a proven track record in farm management, we encourage you to apply.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Farm Manager will be responsible for managing the farming operation, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, staff, and farm processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage all aspects of farm operations, including planning, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and pest management.
Develop and implement farming strategies to optimize yields and maintain high-quality crops.
Monitor and maintain soil health, irrigation systems, and farm equipment.
Lead and supervise farm staff, providing training and guidance to ensure smooth operations.
Analyse crop performance data and implement improvements based on findings.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., packhouse, HR, finance) to ensure alignment of farming practices with business goals.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in farm management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Grade 12 with a tertiary qualification, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or equivalent (preferred).
A minimum of 3 years' experience in citrus farm management or a similar agricultural role.
Strong knowledge of crop production practices, pest management, and soil health.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Proficient in farm management software and data analysis tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in budget management, cost control, and financial management.
Advanced computer literacy.
Valid driver’s license (PDP advantageous).
