Citrus/ Stone Fruit Farm Manager

Our client in the agricultural industry based in Cape Town is currently looking to employ a Citrus/ Stone Fruit Farm Manager.

Purpose of the position:

• To oversee the daily operations of the Stone Fruit Farm.
• Manage the operational activities, administration and client servicing for the Farm in order to optimize opportunities and maximize profitability.
• Reporting to the General Manager, your responsibilities are the leadership and guidance to strategically position the Farm to create sustainable development impact and growth.

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12
• Tertiary Qualification in Agriculture (advantageous)
• Minimum 3 years’ management experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in agriculture
• Sound orchard knowledge and practices essential (Citrus exposure advantageous)
• Proficient knowledge of Global Gap and Siza (Essential) 

Responsibilities:

• People Management, productivity, efficiency and quality of product.
• Develop and implement the required plans, prepare the technical programs and fertilization schedules and service tables for all plants on the farm.
• Carefully follow-up on the daily routines of the farms (Irrigation, Chemical Programme, Pruning etc), such interaction reflects the incumbent’s abilities in working with and managing human resources at the farm.
• Provide logistical support to all departments (maintenance, cleanliness, and transportation in some cases- electrical or plumbing repairs).
• Responsible for management of the key operations on the farm including the coordination of all involved stakeholders and service providers.
• Assist General Manager in setting up and implementing an organisation structure for all operations of the farm with clear hierarchies, job descriptions and process guidelines, and develop future vision and time schedules for implementations.
• Prepare monthly report of the farm status compared to the plan and its expected future.
• Organisation of work on the site depending on the season, which requires changing the number of workers at a particular location in different situations.
• Supervise the implementation of all approved programs and will be liable and responsible to ensure completion of all works handed to departments under his/her management in a timely manner.
• Farm manager should be well-informed and aware of each and every project inside the farm, and must be aware and informed of intervention, since the farm manager resides on the site.
• Ad hoc duties as requested by Senior Management.
