Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated trader to join our client in the Cape Town region. The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and benefit from an aggressive profit-sharing remuneration system in addition to a basic salary. The successful applicant will have a strong fundamental knowledge of the commodity market, a proven track record of profitability, and an established network within the industry.
Education and Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in coal trading is essential
- Proven track record of managing profitable trading portfolios.
- Extensive network and well-established relationships within the commodity trading sector
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Division Establishment and Expansion:
- Develop and manage a profitable division or expansion within the company.
- Drive business growth through strategic planning and execution.
- Budget Compilation:
- Create an annual income budget detailing expected volumes, counterparties, margins, and indicative cash flow necessary to meet budget targets.
- Monitor and adjust the budget as needed to align with market conditions and performance.
- Market Awareness:
- Stay updated on both local and international market trends affecting your division.
- Analyze and interpret market data to make informed trading decisions.
- Transaction Management:

- Negotiate, finalize, and execute transactions in accordance with the company’s trade mandate.
- Ensure all transactions are profitable and compliant with industry standards and company policies.
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage and achieve financial targets.
