Commercial Buyer - Transport : Spartan

Experience:

• 5 years experience in a similar role
• Thorough knowledge of the SA transport industry with personal hands on experience of dealing with multiple transporters each day.
• Experience should include tipper , abnormal , 8 ton , triaxle , super link and crane trucks
• Must have cross border transport experience inclusive of customs rules and compliance requirements to SADC and BLNS countries
• Must have working experience of continuous improvement projects , truck and payload optimization
• Must have hands on experience working across multiple businesses and conducting RFP / RFQ / Tender processes

• Must have strong administrative and communication skills – will need to update rate cards monthly based on fluctuations of diesel , price adjustments etc  
• Strong excel and analytical skills
• Strong negotiating skills
• Strategic reasoning and thinking abilities
• Must be flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing conditions , meet deadlines and be equally comfortable working as an individual or in a team setting
• Ability to work harmoniously with other departments and businesses.
• Rail transport experience and knowledge would be advantageous
