POSITION INFO:
Our client is seeking an highly experienced Construction Manager/Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record in managing construction projects and ensuring quality, safety, and progress standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising contractor activities, consulting with project managers, and ensuring successful project execution from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Management:
- Supervise contractor HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), quality, and progress on-site.
- Consult with the assigned Project Manager for guidance and input during key project phases.
- Develop new project plans in consultation with the Project Manager.
- Ensure smooth information flow from the project manager to the executing team.
- Manage the progress of the project and produce/manage program trackers.
- Arrange project completion based on the specifications of the project owner.
- Compile and manage all project handover documentation.
- Compile progress reports.
- Plan, commence, execute, supervise, and close out assigned projects.
Quantity Surveying:
- Prepare tender packs and evaluate received tenders, sharing recommendations.
- Prepare bills of quantities and manage costs on active sites.
- Evaluate contractor claims and prepare payment certificates.
- Negotiate and sign off final accounts with clients.
- Manage contractor JBCC (Joint Building Contracts Committee) contracts.
- Ensure payments are received from clients and follow up on late payments.
- Prepare project estimates.
- Manage supplier/contractor database and payments.
Qualifications:
- National Diploma: Quantity Surveying or B.Tech in Quantity Surveying (NQF 7).
Requirements:
- 8 - 12 years of experience in construction management and quantity surveying.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to oversee contractor HSE, quality, and progress.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of consulting with project managers and executing teams.
- Proven ability to manage project progress and compile necessary documentation.
- Experience in cost management, tender preparation, and evaluation.
- Ability to manage supplier and contractor databases and ensure timely payments.
