Creditors / Accounts Payable

SUMMARY:
Tokai, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Creditors / Accounts Payable person to join our butchery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounts payable, including processing invoices, reconciling statements, handling supplier queries, and ensuring accurate and timely payments. Additionally, the role includes payroll processing, stock control, and general accounting and admin duties.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Creditors Management:

• Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date creditor records.
• Prepare and process payments to suppliers within agreed payment terms.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding payment queries and discrepancies.
• Monitor and manage the accounts payable aging report.

• Accurately capture and process payroll information for butchery staff.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and labour laws.
• Process leave, overtime, and deductions.
• Prepare and submit statutory payroll returns (PAYE, UIF, etc.).

• Assist in stock-taking and variance investigations.
• Reconcile stock purchase invoices with received stock.
• Work closely with the owner to manage supplier accounts effectively.

• Assist with month-end reconciliations and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
• Maintain financial records and assist in audits when required.
• Support the finance team with additional tasks as needed.

• Education: Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years in a creditors/accounts payable role. Experience in a butchery, food retail, or FMCG industry is advantageous.

• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Arch Retail, Sage, Pastel, or similar).
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and processing.
