Data Capturer (1 Year Contract) – DST/NRF Centre of Excellence for Biomedical TB Research

Main purpose of the job:

• To record and capture all clinical data from source documents into an electronic database and/or Excel

Location:

• National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) – Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

Calculate, record, and capture all clinical and laboratory data into an electronic database -:

• Capture all output from laboratory experiments.
• All queries on data anomalies must be queried weekly; followed up with the relevant team member and update on all spreadsheets
• Create systems to monitor data management
• Follow up on missing data with all relevant personnel on and off-site
• Capture cleaned data onto RedCap

Generate a physical file for each patient -:

• Print hard copy data and file all results in the appropriate files according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• All documents to be accounted for and the timelines for receiving outstanding documents should be noted
• Maintain client confidentiality

Collaborate closely with scientists and project managers and report any anomalies -:

• Liaise with project manager and clinical sites data capturers to ensure that all specimens have appropriate supporting data and ensure the missing data is captured timeously
• Provide weekly reports on data collected to the project manager

Required minimum education and training:

• Grade 12
• Diploma in any Science or Computer Science discipline

Required minimum work experience:

• One (1) Year of previous work in a clinical trial environment

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• GCP training would be advantageous
• Excellent computer skills
• Previous experience with databases such as Redcap and statistical programs such as R would be an advantage
• Effective time management and reporting skills
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and be pro-active
