A leading packaging manufacturing company specializing in high-quality packaging materials for various industries is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Debtors and Creditors Clerk to join the growing finance team.

Job Summary:

Responsible for managing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and statements. Ideal candidates will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Debtors (Accounts Receivable):

• Manage customer accounts, ensuring invoices are issued promptly and accurately.
• Follow up on overdue accounts, send reminders, and make collection calls when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of customer payments and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit monthly customer statements.
• Process credit notes and refunds as required.
• Work closely with sales and customer service teams to resolve customer queries and disputes.
• Maintain aging reports and assist in managing cash flow by minimizing overdue payments.
• Prepare regular reports for management, detailing outstanding debts and progress on collections.

• Process supplier invoices, ensuring accurate matching to purchase orders.
• Verify payment terms and due dates, ensuring timely payments within agreed-upon timelines.
• Reconcile supplier statements, ensuring all invoices are captured without discrepancies.
• Prepare and process supplier payments, including EFTs, cheques, and other payment methods.
• Maintain an organized filing system for supplier invoices and payment documentation.
• Assist with preparing monthly payment runs and reporting on outstanding liabilities.
• Work closely with the procurement department to resolve invoice-related issues.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and other documentation as required by management.

• Matric (Grade 12) with accounting or financial management as a subject. A relevant accounting qualification is a plus.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel (experience with [specific software, e.g., Pastel, Sage, or SAP] is preferred).
• Understanding of VAT, tax, and other relevant financial regulations.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• A proactive and team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently.
