JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client has an opportunity available for a Diesel Mechanic based in Cape Town.

Requirements:

Minimum matric.
Certified Diesel Mechanic – Trade Certificate.
5+ years working experience.
Experience working on Volvo and Mercedes trucks would be advantageous.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid PDP.
Ability to:
- Work under pressure.
- Work standby.
- Work unsupervised majority of the time.
- Communicate both verbally and written on all levels – both internally and externally.
- Work as a team player.
- Solve problems.
- Work the following hours: 07h00 – 17h00.
Prepared to work outside normal working hours – as and when required.
Attention to detail always.
Own reliable transport to and from work.
Knowledge of trailers- essential.
Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and air systems.

Responsibilities:

Service and repair heavy duty vehicles.
Replace parts.
Attend to fault finding.
Attend to the replacements of engines, gearboxes, brakes, clutches, etc.
Inspect and check vehicles.
Attend to bodywork repairs.
Attend to mechanical and electric breakdowns.
Maintain and repair hydraulic fault.
Attend and repair all commercial vehicles.

This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of permanency.
