Our client, an independent conservation organization, seeks to employ a Digital Engagement Coordinator to join their team in Cape Town.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, design, media, technical, or other related subjects.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in digital roles, including content creation and strategy setting, preferably in a marketing, publishing, or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated experience achieving impact (reaching, engaging, and converting) various audiences.
  • Expertise in two or more of the following: HTML, CSS, video/image editing and/or design (Photoshop) skills.
  • A ‘digital native’, highly competent across a broad spectrum of existing online technologies and an early adopter of new technologies.
  • Proven track record working with content management systems at an advanced level.
  • Proven success in setting up and implementing campaigns on marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot).
  • Proven success record in online communications and marketing.
  • Proficiency in online analytical tools (including Google Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Central tools etc).
  • Able to turn data into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Working knowledge of user experience (UX) design.
  • Experience of dealing with digital and creative agencies.
  • Project management and coordination skills, delivering multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Excellent written and spoken English – other language(s) an advantage.
  • Interest in conservation and environmental issues.

 

Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:

Online and social media:

  • Improve the performance and user experience of the company’s online platforms as measured against key metric and qualitative goals.
  • Implement online and social media engagement strategies (including paid social, search, programmatic).
  • Stay abreast of emerging and developing trends in online, digital, and social media communications and identify opportunities to apply them to the company's online platforms.
  • Advocate and support the use of the company website.
  • Regularly monitor and respond to user feedback and audience research to improve and enhance online platforms and content.
  • Work closely with the digital team, conservation communications, the broader communications unit as well as business development to ensure the best promotion, treatment, and distribution of online content (including news stories, blogs, landing pages, fundraising appeals etc).
  • Support implementation of a CRM and marketing automation tool for the company.
  • Report on digital performance at required intervals (post-campaign, quarterly, year-end) as part of the team and organisation’s monitoring and evaluation.

Digital optimisation:

  • Manage digital projects and campaigns for the organisation especially optimisation in terms of engagement aligned with the company’s marketing and communication goals.
  • Work closely with the digital team (including social media and email) to manage the online activity including multi variate testing of landing pages, testing, and tracking of social media, development of supporter journeys and processes, troubleshooting. Suggest techniques to improve conversion rates of online supporters.
  • Develop in conjunction with the rest of the communications unit, business development and external agencies, methods of driving quality traffic to the website and increasing online engagement.
  • Act as a bridge between South Africa and the Digital and Tech and Apps teams Internationally.

Digital creative leadership:

  • Contribute creatively to the digital community within the communications team and the organisation, ensuring an inspiring and creative environment and sharing best practices.
  • Identify, incubate, and generate ideas and concepts, contributing to a culture of learning and innovation with the digital/communications team.
