JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job:

  • To coordinate and support the implementation of the School-based HIV and Violence prevention program, in order to ensure the delivery of quality services offered as part of a comprehensive package of care through mobile service delivery, and achievement of targets
  • Providing clinical technical assistance and capacity building to the district implementing team, in line with Department of Health (DOH) requirements and key strategies

Location:

  • 1 X Eastern Cape (Buffalo City)

Key performance areas:

  • Communicate, promote and support the implementation of the School-based HIV & GBV program within the district
  • Ensure 3 monthly and weekly rosters are completed and submitted on time
  • Provide program implementation guidance and clinical technical assistance to District team members to ensure delivery of program activities according to timelines
  • Support program implementation to align with DIP action plans and compliance to important DOH and SIMS requirements
  • Constant consultation and planning with the provincial manager and district teams to monitor progress on deliverables
  • Review district implementation plan and other program documents for effective implementation of the program
  • Contribute to developing, designing, and implementing Quality Improvement Approaches relevant to the districts needs and gaps
  • Identify the needs of the program within the district and obtain the resources required
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot program-related activities
  • Establish and manage effective working relationships with key partners internally and externally including DBE, DOH, DSD, donors, and other partners
  • Serve as a representative of the Schools project on both internal and external forums including partner meetings and working groups in the district
  • Coordinate program activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring, auditing agencies, and others as necessary
  • Coordinate the submission of relevant reports in the districts as required or requested
  • Management of district staff including providing supervision and support
  • Conduct regular meetings with the District team and undertake regular site visits to ensure outputs are delivered
  • Coach district team members to comply with the organization's policies
  • Ensure each cadre of staff performing as per daily targets
  • Perform and facilitate staff performance assessments
  • Identify sub-standard performance and take necessary corrective action
  • Attend to all staffing requirements and administration at the district level
  • Promote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of information
  • Conduct skills audit to identify training needs of district implementing staff
  • Develop training plan based on a skills audit
  • Identify the training needs of DOH, DBE, other staff, and stakeholders, and provide technical assistance where appropriate
  • Liaise with the Clinical Technical Specialist, Capacity Building Manager and other Technical Leads to address identified training needs
  • Provide both off-site and on the job training to facilitate skills transfer to internal staff
  • Facilitate formal clinical training as required
  • Conduct post-training evaluations to get feedback on the effectiveness of training
  • Ensure all completed registers, assessments and evaluations are returned from courses and hard copies provided to the training administrator
  • Participate in ongoing mentorship programs initiated by other WRHI stakeholders
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to the district implementing team
  • Monitor the quality of service delivery and where required, engage in quality improvement activities to improve quality of care through (and not limited) to the following
  • Conduct a minimum of 50 chart reviews weekly to ensure the quality of documentation of services
  • Conduct PN mentorship sessions initially weekly and then monthly and provide ongoing mentorship and coaching to ensure compliance and correct management of clients in keeping with guidelines
  • Conduct HTS observations monthly with ongoing mentorship
  • Review of HTS registers weekly to ensure compliance with National guidelines and Algorithm
  • The complete monthly training and mentoring reports
  • Complete at least 2 days of clinical work per month to maintain clinical skills
  • Monitor program targets, and where required, engage in quality improvement activities to achieve projected targets
  • Provide oversight for data quality of the nurses, in compliance with M&E reporting requirements
  • Ensure program data collected on the field is correct and timeously reported to M&E
  • Contribute to project reports on the clinical service delivery, as requested by project management
  • Maintain close communication with the M&E team to ensure adequate and regular reporting
  • Documenting lessons learned and success stories
  • Contribute to the development of reports including best practices, technical publications other program documents as required
  • Participate in monitoring activities mandated by the project management
  • Monitor implementation of Pharmacy SOP – stock monitoring and generate monthly PrEP reports and commodities reports
  • Monitor Compliance with monitoring and documenting of blood results on SRH tools and REDCAPP
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
  • Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as conferences, workshops, etc.

Required minimum education and training:

  • Relevant Nursing degree with education qualification
  • Certified clinical (NIMART, APC/PC101, and HTS) mentor
  • Nursing Management degree

Required minimum work experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in public health and SRH, HIV prevention and management, with a focus on adolescents and young people
  • Knowledge and experience to include: ART, PrEP and PEP initiation and management; HIV testing; and provision of sexual and reproductive health services, including contraception, STI, and related services

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

  • Certification in HIV Management (NIMART)
  • Sound technical knowledge of PrEP, PEP, TB, GBV, and SRH service provision
  • Knowledge of provincial and district health structures
  • Experience working in a donor-funded organisation/NGO or project-based environment
  • Qualification or experience in training, mentoring, project management, team building, and quality improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of clinical systems and data management
  • Exceptional organizational, administrative and effective communication skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Pro-active, able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
  • Able to prioritize own workload and work towards deadlines
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Able to speak other common African languages in the district
  • Code 10 Valid SA drivers License Preferred
  • Facilitation Skills
