Maltento is looking for a Drying Area Machine Operator to join their team!!

Job title: DRYING AREA MACHINE OPERATOR 
Work Location: Cape Town 
Division/Department: Operations   
Reports to: Production Manager 
 
Overall Responsibility: 
The candidate will operate and maintain defined machinery, equipment and related processes in order to achieve optimal effectiveness ( Quality; Efficiency, cost management & Safety). 

Main responsibilities of Focus Area 
Operator responsibilities

• Record waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information system  
• Operate machines and equipment according to the work instructions.  
• Carry out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas.  
• Assisting the Maintenance Technician/Team Leader in executing running repairs on shift
• Identify defective machines, and report these to the Maintenance Technician or Team Leader to assist with resolution.  
• Maintain housekeeping standards in his area of operation. 
• Set up machine. (calibration, verification checks, cleaning etc.) 
• Do start-up checks. 
• Control and adjust machine settings based on the required outcome (speed, temperature etc.) 
• Feed raw materials to semi-automated machines 
• Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools. 
• Test operation of machine periodically including functions like configuring, Disassembling and quality testing. 
• Report all non-conformances timeously. 
• Meet daily expected production targets/outputs! 
• Good understanding of H&S 
• Willingness to assist with any task within the organization. 
• Operating of Equipment within the Drying area 
• Operating complex Drying equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently: 
• FLM (first line maintenance) 
• Operate Polishing machine. 
• Operate Hammer Mill 
• Report all breakdowns to Team leader/ Manager/ Maintenance 
• Constantly monitor/check outputs for any machine related mistakes or flaws 
• Keep record of approved and defective product/final product 
• Troubleshoot issues that might occur during the shift. 
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to undergo training, if need be, to understand the operations of new equipment 
• Conduct temperature readings every 30 minutes on the drying processing batch record

• Prepare and complete tasks
• Accurate documentation filled in on the clocking sheet

• Perform Food Safety and Quality related activities as part of the FSMS and QC functions.  
• Complying with OSHA and other safety regulations 
• Good understanding of Safety and Quality 
• Maintain accurate production records. 
• Ensure all final products meet quality expectations e.g.: No frass or any foreign objects in Final product. 
• Ensure Protein values of FFM are met by using appropriate Diet. 
• Carry out the required quality checks and analyses and record the results on the appropriate information system.
• Complete daily checklists e.g.: Cleaning, Verifications, Calibrations etc. 
• Comply to CCP, HACCP 
• Sampling of Final products 
• Verification of Final product specs (weight, color, bulk density etc.) 
• Packaging of final product 
• Storing of final product 
• Final Product Record keeping (for traceability purposes)

• Matric (Technical or with Maths/Science preferred)  
• Ability to speak and understand English  
• Experience operating machinery / process equipment.
