Responsible for the electrical system modelling, protection design, protection testing, protection and system commissioning, bill of quantities and Auto CAD drawings for all projects you are involved in, ensuring that all your projects are execution in line with the South African national standards, and other standards as required form our customers from time to time. You will also be responsible to compile Site Acceptance Test plans, commissioning plans and assist the technical teams with the execution there of.
You will also be expected to contribute to the development of the company’s strategic planning and the development of our customer base and project services. You will be responsible for the budgeting, resource management, planning, scope definition, implementation and general coordination of all projects you are involved in.
You will report directly to the Senior Electrical System Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering, planning, leading, organising and controlling electrical system modelling, load flows, fault studies, grading studies and designs for all projects you are involved in, ensuring that standards and quality of all studies, SAT execution and commissioning are upheld.
Other Responsibilities:
- Standardization and ensuring good engineering practises are applied to all electrical studies.
- Designs, specifications, project, supervision and management of small to medium projects.
- Responsible for whole project life cycle e.g. Design according to work scope, specification of equipment to be used, procurement of material, budgeting, supervision during manufacturing process, testing and commissioning of completed product, equipment test reports and documentation, handover and demonstration to client during FAT, SAT and commissioning where and when required.
- Specify, design, programming, commissioning of electrical equipment including metering equipment, protection equipment, electrical reticulation equipment.
- Develop bill of materials/quantities for engineering services, engineering work and projects, and support the tendering process of other departments with respect to engineering work.
- Coordinate individual project resources plans and support the endeavours of the engineering and installation services teams in this regard.
- Technical problem solving, fault finding, periodic standby duties.
- Be required to work on protection, protection automation, instrumentation and control equipment and are required to use your own initiative and undertake self-study and research to become competent in a wide field of electrical and control engineering.
- Support and take the lead on design and engineering projects.
- Enforce the policies and procedures of the company and maintain a high level of work ethic, quality and discipline with the work force.
- Support the company strategic plan, including the development and maintenance of the sales budgets and expenses ensuring an efficient and profitable business unit.
- Development and mentoring of Engineers, Technicians and Trainees.
- Development of design standardisation, products, services, commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Interface with sales, contract pursuit and project management departments.
- Maintaining a good relationship with the customer’s representatives at all times.
This is a challenging Engineering position where you will be required to execute projects in line with the company’s strategy.
Candidate requirements
- B Eng Electrical Heavy Current,
- 3 to 6 years of experience in a large Industry environment,
- Good exposure within an industrial environment and associated electrical reticulation, protection and other electrical machinery,
- A high level of technical Competence and understanding of such equipment.
