Electrical Plant Engineer (Durban)

SUMMARY:
Durban based food manufacturing plant requires an Electrical Plant Engineer to report to the Maintenance the Maintenance Manager.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose:
 
The incumbent will be responsible for managing electrical and instrumentation maintenance and support general plant maintenance and optimization by initiating equipment improvements and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team.
 
Duties include:

• Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance to legislation
• Assessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities. Planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high-risk areas (high pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid)
• Ensure accurate drawings and documentation are updated with all projects and modifications
• Conduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP study
• Interfacing of projects/modifications with production
• Manage change and modifications
• Lead project/modification commissioning when required
• Ensure plant personnel is trained to operate new process/equipment and that SOP’s are provided
• Comply with ModProp process
• Identify recurring troublesome equipment/problems and propose and implement alterations/modifications where agreed.
• Assist maintenance to resolve breakdowns timeously

• Minimum N6 Electrical Engineering / BTech
• 2 years’ FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines – Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Civil
• Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental Legislation
• Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment
