SUMMARY:
Our Engineering Client in Durban is looking for an Electrician to join their team

POSITION INFO:
Installation and Maintenance:

• Install electrical systems, components, and equipment, including wiring, circuits, and fixtures.
• Regularly inspect and maintain electrical systems to ensure they function correctly and safely.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in industrial machinery and systems.
• Repair or replace faulty wiring, components, or equipment.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime.

• Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and standards.
• Follow strict safety protocols to protect oneself and others from electrical hazards.
• Conduct safety inspections and implement measures to prevent electrical accidents.

• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
• Plan and layout the installation of electrical systems based on these documents. 

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other control systems.
• Program and configure VSDs & Soft Starters to optimise industrial processes.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and industrial equipment.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and fix complex electrical issues.
• Attention to Detail: Precision in following codes, standards, and technical drawings.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork and documentation.
• Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

• Electrical trade theory: N3
• Electrical Trade Test
• Minimum 5 years experience
• Certifications: Wiremans License
