JOB DESCRIPTION:

A giant in the telecommunications industry is looking for a Emerging Youth Talent Lead to join their dynamic team based in Johannesburg to be is accountable for leading the globally aligned Youth Programmes, that deliver scalable solutions to hiring teams across all Africa based locations. This role is accountable for collaboration with senior stakeholders across the group and externally to embed the youth hiring strategy and development. The role is also accountable for driving multiple projects simultaneously to help re-define a programmatic approach to engaging early with target talent communities from grassroots to higher learning institutions and providing thought leadership to the Emerging Youth Teams.

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Develop a consistent approach to defining youth proposition and embedding this regionally.
  • Guide the creation and delivery of attraction campaigns for youth programmes in conjunction with local markets, managing relationships with Universities and Attraction Partners.
  • Establish best practice in how we translate this to youth audience through employer brand activity.
  • Harmonise youth hiring process to deliver best-in-class candidate experience globally, while increase yield from hiring activity.
  • Designing and running a bespoke selection processes for the many youth programmes, building a clear roadmap for how to refresh assessment tools used during hiring process globally.
  • Build a smarter way of allocation, to land youth hires into the right role.
  • Improve the on programme experience, developing skills to equip the youth to excel here over time.
  • Build mechanisms for cohort calibration and rotations, removing manual intervention and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
  • Effectively manage the graduate off-boarding at scale.
  • Lead on Top Talent programmes to support and accelerate high-potential youth talent.
  • Management and evolution of the calendar of development interventions for all programmes in partnership with Learning and Development.
  • Proactive reporting and talent management of post-programme employees to track performance of programmes.
  • Build scalable mechanisms to keep stakeholders informed and ensure work streams are meeting deliverable dates.
  • Champion the Top Employer Initiative - ensuring that Vodacom Group continues to be amongst the top employers in Africa.

 

Key performance indicators:

  • Design, develop and identify appropriate development programmes.
  • Overall integration and consolidation of a consistent global youth strategy for the Africa region.
  • Develop Group’s new youth strategy.
  • Strategic Youth Initiatives: Identify, and oversee the implementation.
  • Create a continental youth roadmap for the youth strategy with key milestones.
  • Provide thought leadership on youth that continue to shape the youth agenda.
  • Drive diversity and inclusion agenda through youth.
  • Partner with the Global Assessment team to design and implement virtual / digital selection processes.
  • Partner with the Group Employer Brand and team to design attraction campaigns.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Proven record of design, development and implementing complex youth / graduate programmes, which include engagements with higher learning institutions or campus recruiting programs - ideally on a multi-location scale.
  • Previous experience of end-to-end recruiting, assessments, development programmes and events management preferable.
  • Experience in delivering major projects across a large complex organisation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Can manage ambiguity to deliver and operate effectively with simplicity.
  • Coaching skills would be an added advantage

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • A relevant Post Graduate Degree or Diploma (HR / Strategy / Marketing / Business Science) is essential.
  • At least 7 years relevant experience is essential.
