Empty Container Handler Operator

Duties and responsibilities

• Offload, stack, locate, place and load shipping containers as instructed
• Completion of work sheets
• Maintain required health and safety standards at all times
• Operate the forklift with due regard to people, other vehicles and yard conditions
• Daily inspection of container stacks, and repack/rectify where necessary
• Daily checking on the condition of the forklifts, and to report on any faults.
• Refuelling of forklift with diesel fuel
• Reconciling Fuel sheets
• Licencing and training
• Weekly washing and cleaning of the Handlers
• Assisting with monthly Stock take

Qualifications, experience and competencies required:

• Minimum Matric or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license (minimum Code 8)
• Certified Forklift training certificate (reach stacker/container handler)
• 3-6 years related Container handling experience
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to write correspondence.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
• Must be able to travel to and from work during normal UCD working hours, may include night shift.
