Enrolled Nurses x 2 (Wits VIDA)

Main purpose of the job:

• To assist with participant recruitment and provide nursing care to patients enrolled in the study

Location:

• VIDA - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital

Key performance areas:

• Enroll participants by educating them about the study and obtain informed consent according to SOPs
• Complete relevant study documentation/questionnaires and checklists
• Take accurate anthropometric measurements for children under five years old
• Draw the necessary Cord Blood from infants and send samples or specimens to the laboratory in accordance with the study SOPs
• Provide appropriate health education and counseling where necessary
• Educate caregivers/mothers on the care of children and nutrition
• Work with children under the age of five years
• Refer participants to alternative care if necessary
• Report any study-related challenges to Study Coordinators
• Attend to data queries and resolve them accordingly
• Maintain full clinical records for all participants
• Quality control CRFs and other study documents
• Attend to data queries and resolve them accordingly and timeously
• Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
• Take ownership of driving your own career development by attending training and development sessions and relevant meetings
• Driving study team to and from the field as required

Required minimum education and training:

• Registered with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse
• Two-year Enrolled Nursing certificate

Required minimum work experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in a research environment with paediatric experience

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• GCP Training
• Experience in working with maternity, neonates, and paediatrics
• Clinical research experience is advantageous
• Able to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays
• Fluency in at least one local language other than English essential
