POSITION: FMS Project Technician

Suitable and interested applicants are invited to apply for the above position. The successful candidate will be based at  Johannesburg office and will be required to travel to other provinces and abroad as required.

1. 1.    RESPONSIBILITY

 The incumbent is mainly responsible for the installation and commissioning of the Company fuel management system on various projects.

 2.    MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS (KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS)

 The core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performing within a project team structure under strict timelines
• Install and commissioning of Company products.
• Perform effective fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Effective communication with the Project Manager and customers
• Perform administrative tasks such as keeping records of all new installed equipment, maintaining vehicle logbooks, maintaining technician onsite reports (TOS) up to date, ensuring that job cards are completed timeously, correctly and handed in for invoicing.
• Ensure that the equipment is maintained and repaired/installed in accordance with the OEM requirements and specifications.
• Compile a schedule for preventative maintenance on the fixed fuel management system, which will be distributed to all relevant Customer parties.
• Assist with mini projects run in maintenance.
• Supporting the business through the upselling of additional equipment and services provided by the Company.
• Comply with all the Customer’s rules and regulations and policies such health, safety, quality and environment and will adhere to all safe working procedures.
• Occasionally working overtime (weekends, public holidays of afterhours)

1. 3.    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB FUNCTIONS

• Technical knowledge of the Company product offering (Training will be provided)
• Light current or instrumentation
• Understanding of mechanical equipment.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft office products)
• Effective communication skills.
• Strong customer focus.
• Ability to make decisions independently and proactively.
• Excellent work ethics.
• Ability to interact with customers at all levels of the organization.
• Good command of English and French language.

1. 1.    FORMAL TRAINING REQUIRED

• Matric
• Technical qualification required. Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light current) or Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage.
• Electro-mechanical or instrumentation experience required. 
• Code 8 License

1. 2.    ANY SPECIAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Good Health – Regular medicals conducted by our customers are a prerequisite for work to commence.
• Ability to travel abroad.

Hours and Conditions of Work

• Travelling and working after hours or on weekends may be required occasionally.
• Larger projects may require working away from home for 4-6 weeks with a 1-week break in between.
