SUMMARY:

A global horticultural seed company is seeking an experienced Farm Production Manager to plan and manage all activities related to the commercial trial site as well as the growing and maintenance of healthy plants in support of Research and Development, Product Development, Seed Production and Quality Assurance programmes on site.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a National Diploma in Agriculture or similar
+7 years’ experience in Commercial Farm Operations will be required
Must have irrigation experience - priva irrigation experience will be ideal
Must have strong pest, disease and nutrition knowledge as well as Good Seed and Plant Practices Good communication skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required
Must be willing and available to work weekends when required
Must have a valid driver’s license and own transport

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing employees in breeding, seed production and product development functions.
Performing seasonal, monthly and weekly planning.
Managing all site activities regarding crop management and crop production.
Preparing and managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
Managing irrigation systems, fertilisation programmes, soil health and pest control programmes.
Purchasing supplies and submitting purchase orders to the Financial Department.
Ensuring all farm activities comply to Good Seed and Plant Practices (GSSP).
Ensuring training is completed for all employees on GSPP and ISO requirements.
Implementing performance management processes for the Farm Assist and Team Leaders.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
