SUMMARY:
The Plant Field Agent acts as a liaison between site personnel and the Plant Director, identifying and resolving plant related issues to ensure equipment availability for production. This role involves managing workshop personnel across various sites to ensure that repairs are conducted accurately, timely, safely, and cost-effectively.
Key Competencies
- Proficiency in hydraulic systems, engine mechanics, transmissions, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic diagrams
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles
- Knowledge of machinery and tools, including their operation, repair, and maintenance
- Skilled in operating vehicles and mechanized devices
- Experience in servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing mechanical equipment
- Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving operating errors
- Familiarity with construction principles and practices
- Basic mathematical skills for cost estimation
- Strong planning, organizing, prioritizing, and time management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Competence in computer skills for reporting and documentation
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and safe work procedures

Requirements
- Grade 12
- Qualified Earthmoving/Diesel Mechanic
- 7-10 years’ experience in Construction and Earthmoving environment
- Code 8 and 14 Licence with PDP
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily Operations:
- Conduct daily check-ins with mechanics regarding new breakdowns and repair updates.
- Communicate with the Workshop Foreman about repair needs and plant components.
- Coordinate with Site Agents on plant requirements and planned downtime.
- Monitor site progress to ensure adherence to schedules (e.g., chipping and milling). Repair Management:
- Report significant repairs to the Plant Director.
- Provide detailed fault lists and repair instructions to mechanics.
- Oversee the progress and completion of repairs, assisting mechanics with advice and problem-solving.
- Ensure operators conduct daily checks for machinery issues and compile fault lists. Safety and Compliance:
- Verify adherence to safe work procedures and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Enforce discipline regarding non-compliance with company policies. Training and Development:
- Train new recruits and promote knowledge sharing within the team. Technical Support:
- Conduct tests on machinery and interpret hydraulic and electrical diagrams.
- Identify faults and plan for necessary parts, considering availability and cost.
- Arrange for ordering and transportation of parts, and coordinate temporary repairs as requested. Reporting and Documentation:
- Ensure daily completion of plant repair reports and review daily Pl.
