Fieldworker (Wits CHRU)

Main purpose of the job:

• To provide information to the community on MDR and encourage eligible people to undergo TB treatment
• This includes participant verification, followups and brand awareness
• Performs the facilitation of groundwork of the respective project

Location:

• Jose Pearson TB Hospital, Bethelsdorp – Eastern Cape

Key performance areas:

• Register participants manually using the prescribed project documentation in the designated geographical area specified
• Conduct Informed Consent Process
• Counsel participants individually should they meet enrolment criteria
• Follow up on Participants that have missed a visit and reschedule if need be by conducting a home visit or making contact telephonically ensuring source documents are updated using GCP
• Prepare participant files and ensure that ICF is correctly completed and signed
• Ensure that timesheets are correctly completed and submitted timeously
• Perform all AD - HOC duties as and when requested by your line manager
• Recruit at different clinics in the NMBM
• Be able to do community education about TB
• Perform community advisory board duties with the community liaison officer

Required minimum education and training:

• Grade 12
• Driver’s License

Required minimum work experience:

• 1 Year’s experience as a fieldworker or counselor
• Be able to read, write, speak, and understand isiXhosa

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Team Player
• Ability to manage own time
• Ability to work without close supervision
• Professional
• Fluent in more than one local language
• Certificate in Counseling
• Good Clinical Practice
