CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

SAIMI seeks to appoint a Financial Administrative Assistant who will assist the Financial Administrator in performing and coordinating the financial transactions of the entity. The ideal candidate will possess an appropriate qualification and experience in Accounting.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Financial Administration

1.1 Assist the Financial Administrator in performing and coordinating the financial transactions of the entity.

1.2 Assist with the management of the cash flow of SAIMI in line with the project deliverables and cash flow projection.

1.3 Assist with Budget and cashflow management and control.

1.4 Processing of transactions on ITS and Pastel.

1.5 Perform reconciliations of expenditure and budgets.

1.6 Extracting and analysing of data from ITS in order to compile financial reporting to SAIMI management, Advisory Board and National Skills Fund (NSF).

1.7 Assist with the National Skills Fund (NSF) and service provider contract management.

1.8 Assist with the compilation of monthly and quarterly expenditure and cash flow reports and projections to the NSF.

1.9 Service provider and project expenditure verifications.

1.10 Conduct due diligence, monitoring and evaluation.

2. Information Management

2.1 Ensure accurate and efficient record-keeping of SAIMI financial information and documentation, in order to meet the monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.

2.2 Assist with Finance policies and systems

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Processing of financial transactions.

• Financial reconciliations.

• Pastel experience.

• High level computer literacy and knowledge of spreadsheet applications.

• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash-flow monitoring and internal accounting controls.

• Strong data collection, problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to coordinate competing priorities, meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships.

• Team oriented.

• Ability to provide ideas and recommendations to resolve routine issues.

• High level of integrity and commitment to professional responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

• Appropriate degree or diploma majoring in accounting.

• At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience.

• At least 1-year experience in University financial environment.

• Pastel experience.

• Experience in using Integrated Tertiary Software System (ITS).

• Experience in managing external funding e.g. National Skills Fund (NSF) would be beneficial.
