POSITION INFO:
Purpose of the job
The Fire and Rescue Officer is required to respond to a wide variety of emergency situations on site and in some circumstance off site.
NB: The Fire & Rescue Officer must reside within a 10km radius from the company site.
Key performance area:
General Duties
Fire prevention activities
Housekeeping, and cleaning of equipment and vehicle
Respond to fire and rescue incidents and operate in a team framework.
Fire standby requirements for hot work and confine spaces.
Emergency Response
Respond to all types of emergency situations as and when required, after hours the fire officer must be on site in 15minutes.
Evaluate emergency situations prior to attending to them
Patient care and treatment is of utmost importance.
Communication to reporting structure.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
C1 category driving license or higher (EC-1, C or EC)
Risks Assessment
Relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. OHS Act and regulations)
Local municipality by laws
All relevant SANS- Standards (firefighting and emergency response related)
Fire prevention, education or inspection experience
Experience
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in paramedic and firefighting
At least 3 years’ experience in a Chemical Manufacturing environment
Qualifications:
Grade 12
Ambulance Emergency Assistance Registered with HPCSA
Certificate in Fire Technology
Fire Fighter 1 and 2
Hazmat Awareness and Operational
Confined Space Rescue
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
Pump Driver/ operator
