CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to collaborate with the First Year Success Coordinator in the execution of appropriate and effective institution-wide First Year Success Programmes in order to facilitate a smooth transition of new students into the academic and social culture of the University as directed and in accordance with the mission of the Nelson Mandela University |
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
- To co-promote and implement an appropriate and effective First Year Success Programme for new students across the University;
- To facilitate training programmes for First Year Success Leaders;
- To recruit, interview and select new and senior students from each programme in each Faculty as First Year success Buddies
- To liaise with First Year Success Leaders and First Year students;
- To manage and update information on the First Year Success digital platforms;
- To perform administrative functions for the First Year Success programme included but not limited to
- Finance Administration
- Marketing and Communication Administration
- Office Administration

- An understanding of and experience in First Year Success programmes and services with regard to student access, retention and throughput principles and best practice;
- An understanding of the developmental resource needs of students and staff;

- Have proven attributes of transparency, integrity and teamwork.

REQUIREMENTS
|
|
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have complied with the following requirements:
- M+3 or equivalent qualification in the field of social sciences, marketing or public relations
- Have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in which the above competences have been gained.
