Geologist

Our client has an opportunity available for a Geologist.

Requirements:

• BSc Honours degree in Geology- essential
• Registration as a professional scientist from the SA Council for Natural Scientific.
• Professionals will be preferable.
• 1 to 3+ years underground mining geology experience- essential.
• Valid medical certificate or be medical fit to obtain such a certificate.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities:

• Scientifically identify and forecast ore body or mineral reserves and formations per geological area.
• Ensure effective and value-adding geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates.
• Provide professional advice and integrated communication to production and other mining disciplines for present and future mining.
• Facilitate integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration of new mining areas.
• Constantly monitor geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining.
• Guide and manage the geological function of an operating unit, inclusive of managing
• Geologists and contractors effectively.
• Compile standardized geological reports for management information purposes.
• Effectively manage core drilling operations.

This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract position.
