Grade Control Geologist
Copper mine in Botswana (6 weeks on and 2 weeks off).
Salary highly negotiable
Responsibilities:
Grade Control Model Update
Provide updated grade control wireframe and grade control model using all structural and mapping data.
Flag risk and/or opportunity areas after any grade control model update
Liaise with Mine planners and mining contractor to facilitate short term planning
Provide Lithological Models Works closely with short term and production engineers to optimise operating development and maximise ore extraction to optimum grades.
Database Management
Accurate sampling, mapping and data capturing into the database
Provide updated geological and structural maps
Assist to provide vital structural data/models for geotechnical support.
Mine to Mill Reconciliation
Responsible for Head grade to Mill, production reconciliation, pit reconciliation, and historical reconciliation
Assist to reconcile volumes between survey measure and actual count.
Assist to reconcile declared ore mined/grade control model/resource model
Assist to calculate dilution and ore loss per each pit mined and for the month.
Daily grade control practices through effective monitoring and communication
Reporting
Ensure all required periodic (daily, monthly and yearly) reporting is completed and distributed on time.
Report on grade and tonnes mined, progress on drilling and information on number of samples sent to the lab.
Actual v/s year to date drilling information, lab results and resource evaluations for the week.
Quality Control
Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accurate records are maintained for core logging, assay results
Contribute to ongoing geological improvement by analysing existing processes and offering suggestions for enhancements
Staff Development
Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments.
Safety Management:
Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.
Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures
Ensure hazard management plans are observed.
Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.
Active participation to the Health & Safety Committee.
