JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties and responsibilities:
  • HR representative in disciplinary proceedings and prepares minutes, notices, warnings, letters and any other termination documents;
  • Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and at CCMA arbitration investigations.
  • Administer benefits programs such as employee benefits, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance;
  • Co-ordinate training that has been identified.
  • Updating employee records
  • Ensuring that BBBE employment equity scorecard is prepared as per requirements and the monitoring & updating of personnel related records that relate to the BBBEE requirements are executed;
  • Investigate employee accidents and prepares reports for insurance and liaise with compensation commissioner. Coordinates Safety Committee meetings and ensure that safety legal appointments are in line with various mine requirements;
  • Prepares budget of human resources operations to be in line with BBBEE policy; and
  • Contract with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services.
  • Handling the payroll through Pastel Payroll.
  • Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing, selecting candidates and conducting new employee orientation;
  • Managing the group profile and sourcing candidates using recruitment portals.
  • Keeping record of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics;
  • Working closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
Qualifications and skills:
  • HR qualification and labour law knowledge
  • 2 years related experience in general HR admin
  • Knowledge in manufacturing environment beneficial but not essential             
  • Proven knowledge of legislation especially Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment.
  • Strong administrative and organizing skills
  • Effective Training: the ability to foresee the training needs of the company and plan for it.
  • Pastel Payroll experience will be beneficial.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate in win-win situations for the company and the employees they hire. 
  • Technical Knowledge: ability to stay updated on legislation related to employment, and to be aware of violations, harassment or hardships that employees undergo.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must know Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Self-motivated & punctual.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills.
  • Be professional in appearance and communication.
