POSITION INFO:
This is a girls'' secondary school offering education from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Most students are day scholars, but for those coming from further away, the school also provides weekly and termly boarding options. This gives girls the chance to experience school life without having to commute every day, while still being part of a vibrant and welcoming community.

The Boarding Establishment (BE) is situated in lovely grounds adjacent to the school. Boarding Establishment life enables girls to take a full part in the day-to-day activities offered at school.
The girls are therefore able to balance their numerous commitments and keep up with their schoolwork. The Boarding Establishment falls directly under the control of the School Governing Body, the Principal and the Boarder Superintendent. A Senior Housemother, 4 Housemothers (HMs) and approximately 10 Boarder Mistresses (BMs) live in the BE and are responsible for the welfare and behaviour of all the girls.
General Duties:
● Work in close collaboration with the Senior House Mother and other House Mothers
- daily meetings
● Oversee and mentor the boarder mistresses – regular meetings
● Assist with interviews for new boarder mistresses in consultation with the Senior
House Mother and Head of Boarding
● Ensure that boarders are safe and nurtured at all times
● Pastoral role of ensuring boarders’ emotional and academic wellbeing at the BE
● Take special responsibility for a particular grade as Grade House Mother
● Liaise with other departments: school, kitchen, laundry, sickbay, and housekeeping staff regarding BE matters
● Attend all boarding activities as required
● Attend all professional development courses as requested by Head of Boarding
● Maintain close contact with parents, deal with any issues promptly
● General admin: emails, records, reports, rosters, dorm allocations etc.
● Reception duties, answering phone calls and attending to visitors
● Plan for excursions of boarders – transport if necessary, packed meals, any special
arrangements
● Be a presence at meals, whenever girls are in the BE
● Delegate and involve all boarder mistresses in tasks
● Interact with and support girls, get to know them as individuals
● Drive boarders to events and activities when necessary
● Report any concerns to Senior House Mother or Head of Boarding
● Work closely with matrics and seniors
● Other duties as required by Head of Boarding
Applicants would need the following personal attributes:

Necessary qualifications and skills would include:
● This position is only open to Female applicants
● Diploma or Degree in Education would be an advantage
● Ability to understand/speak isiZulu would be an advantage
● Experience working with young adults, especially girls, would be preferable
● Need strong management skills
● Good health, non-smoker
● Good computer skills
● Applicants must be in possession of their own reliable vehicle and have a valid driver’s licence
● Applicants must have the ability to develop positive relationships with the staff and girls
