IT Lecturer (Independent Contractor) (Sandton, JHB)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Vacancies for Lecturers in Programming (School of IT)

• Advanced C#

• Android Development

• Application Development Security

Key Performance Areas:

ØLecturing in the form of either face-to-face sessions with students and/or online sessions;

ØInvigilation of formative assessment as may be required;

ØDiligent preparation for lectures, including preparation of in-class activities;

ØMarking and providing constructive feedback to students on all assessments;

ØReview of module/ subject material on the prescribed template.

Minimum Education Requirements:

ØAn Honours Degree or higher in Computer Science/Information Systems/Information Technology; Or:

ØAn Honours Degree or higher in similarly related fields with programming to the third-year level.

Ø

Minimum Experience Required:

ØLecturing experience in programming.

ØIndustry experience as a Software Developer, Application Developer or Programmer.

ØRelevant industry experience in your language or technology of speciality is essential, whilst lecturing or teaching experience is preferable.

ØMore specifically, experience in one or more of the following technologies:

vJavaScript (React, Angular, etc.)

vCloud Development (Azure, AWS, etc.)

vMobile Application Development (Android/iOS)

vDatabase Systems (SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, Firebase, MongoDB, etc.)

vOperating Systems (Windows/Linux)

Competencies required:

ØTechnical Skills.

ØCommunication Skills.

ØOrganisational Skills.

ØEffective Classroom Management Skills.

ØOpen to the further development of teaching practice.

Please note that this is an Independent Contractor role.

Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent Residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status.

Please note that independent contractor positions are part-time, with lecturers taking place between 08:00 and 17:00 on weekdays.
