POSITION INFO:
Are you passionate about color chemistry and precision? Join our dynamic team in the Packaging Division as an Ink Chemist / Junior Engineer and contribute to high-quality ink production that powers our printing operations.
Role Purpose
To oversee the end-to-end ink mixing operations within the Ink Kitchen, ensuring timely and accurate shade matching, ink inventory control, and smooth supply of ink to the production floor. The role also maintains hygiene standards and upholds customer specifications through precise and consistent practices.
Key Responsibilities
Ink Mixing Operations
- Accurately mix inks based on customer specifications and job requirements
- Minimize press returns through effective shade matching
Color Management
- Develop and maintain consistent color shades
- Reduce waste from mismatched or rejected colors
Inventory Control
- Maintain real-time stock records of mixed inks and WIP
- Ensure just-in-time (JIT) ink availability for production
Ink Supply Coordination
- Supply mixed inks to the production floor in sync with shift schedules
- Proactively report ink requirements or shortages to the section head
Hygiene & Compliance
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the ink mixing area per GMP standards
- Follow all environmental, health, safety (EHS), and chemical handling protocols
Key Interactions

- Printing/Press Section
- Production Planning & Inventory Control (PPIC)
- Quality Control (QC) and Warehouse
External:
- Occasional interaction with ink suppliers (as directed)
Education:
- B.Sc /M.Sc in Chemistry or Diploma in Organic Chemistry
- Specialization in inks, paints, or coatings is preferred
Experience:
- 3 to 6 years in ink preparation, color matching, or ink mixing within a packaging or printing environment
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of color chemistry and pigment behavior
- Experience with flexographic and rotogravure ink systems
- Skilled in using ink mixing equipment and viscosity control tools
- Familiarity with solvent-based systems and safe chemical handling
