Minimum qualification
- Degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field

- Certification/Course in instructional design, educational technology or similar field
Experience & knowledge required
- Previous working experience as an Instructional Designer or similar role for 4+ years
- In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (essential)
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills (essential)
- Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge (advantageous)
- Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and ability to storyboard (essential)
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts (essential)
- Experience doing Instructional Design in the Software/technology industry (advantageous)
- Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle or Adobe Captivate Prime (essential)
Job responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain the Eyerys user manual (this is the “bible” of all Eyerys knowledge and understanding)
- Create short, user-friendly training resources (video and document) which can be distributed to clients, used on our online support portal (saved in our library), shared with team members for them to upskill on Eyerys, etc.
- Create and maintain the Support Library online, and in Smoke CI’s intranet
- Update and maintain the Eyerys FAQs (create visual content for educational purposes)
- Receive product release notes from the software development team, and turn these into sections in the Eyerys user-manual
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content for Eyerys, which will be used as internal and external training and knowledge verification (for example, short training courses comprised of tasks/assignments/videos/etc. so that a
user/trainee/client/team member can understand sections of Eyerys (functionality and theory))
- Work with subject matter experts (i.e. clients, Client Success Manager(s), Heads of Departments, etc.) to develop course content
- Identify the target audience’s training needs
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
- Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- Visualise instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on users/trainees and contexts
- Analyse and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process as it pertains to Eyerys
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.) (write scripts)
- Devise modes of assessment, such as assignments, tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course/to judge the user/trainee’s performance
- Maintain project documentation and course folders
- Analyse, update and refine existing online content;
Create and implement online learning content
- Manage online learning communities
- Within the next 2 years, build an Eyerys certification program
- Train instructors, Client Success Managers, employees, etc. in how to use the learning materials/technologies
- Keep current on best practice instructional design
