Job Description
Client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the operations of their small, vibrant restaurant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of service, managing staff, and optimizing the restaurant’s performance to enhance customer satisfaction and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
– Hire, train, schedule, and supervise restaurant staff.
– Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
– Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Customer Service:
– Ensure excellent customer service is consistently delivered.
– Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly.
– Monitor and respond to online reviews and feedback.
Operational Oversight:
– Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
– Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.
– Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Financial Management:
– Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and optimize costs.
– Track daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance.
– Conduct inventory management and order supplies as needed.
Menu and Quality Control:
– Work with chefs to develop and update menus.
– Ensure high standards of food quality and presentation.
– Implement and maintain portion control and waste reduction practices.
Marketing and Community Engagement:
– Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new customers.
– Manage social media accounts and promotional campaigns.
– Build relationships with local businesses and community organizations.
Administrative Duties:
– Maintain accurate records of employee schedules, payroll, and transactions.
– Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling repairs and maintenance.
– Prepare regular reports for ownership or senior management
Qualifications
Matric Hospitality qualification an advantage
Skills
Proven experience as a restaurant manager or in a similar role. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Solid understanding of restaurant management best practices. Proficient in restaurant management software and POS systems (company uses Market Man so this will be advantageous). Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with restaurant management.
