Junior Accountant/ Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
Location: Remote (Client visits when needed – 2-3 times per month Pretoria, JHB area) 

Salary: Industry related, based on experience + 13th Cheque

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 
 
Our client, a reputable firm in the accounting industry, is looking for a Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team on a remote basis, with occasional client visits in the Johannesburg area.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in accounting or related fields would be beneficial
• 2+ years working experience in a bookkeeping accounting role working up to trial balance
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
• Excellent communication and follow-up skills
• Ability to ensure accuracy in financial records and transactions
• Excellent time management and ability to multitask in a remote work environment
• Understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance standards in South Africa

• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded and up to date
• Update accounts receivable and payable by issuing invoices and processing payments; perform monthly and ad-hoc reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy
• Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports; ensure all reports comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Update financial data in internal accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and easy accessibility for internal use
• Support senior accountants during month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments
• Administer monthly payroll, ensuring all payroll records are accurate and compliant with company policies
• Prepare and submit weekly or monthly reports summarizing financial activities to management
• Conduct client visits (2-3 times per month) to assist with on-site bookkeeping, financial discussions, and any required financial tasks
