SUMMARY:
Location: Remote (Client visits when needed – 2-3 times per month Pretoria, JHB area)

Salary: Industry related, based on experience + 13th Cheque

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

Our client, a reputable firm in the accounting industry, is looking for a Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team on a remote basis, with occasional client visits in the Johannesburg area.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Diploma or degree in accounting or related fields would be beneficial
2+ years working experience in a bookkeeping accounting role working up to trial balance
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
Excellent communication and follow-up skills
Ability to ensure accuracy in financial records and transactions
Excellent time management and ability to multitask in a remote work environment
Understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance standards in South Africa

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded and up to date
Update accounts receivable and payable by issuing invoices and processing payments; perform monthly and ad-hoc reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy
Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports; ensure all reports comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations
Update financial data in internal accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and easy accessibility for internal use
Support senior accountants during month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments
Administer monthly payroll, ensuring all payroll records are accurate and compliant with company policies
Prepare and submit weekly or monthly reports summarizing financial activities to management
Conduct client visits (2-3 times per month) to assist with on-site bookkeeping, financial discussions, and any required financial tasks
