A Manufacturing company based in Gauteng is looking for a Junior Engineer / Designer to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Skills:

Proficiency in Solid Works
Moderate to good understanding of MasterCam
Knowledge of different plastic types and their characteristics.
Corel Draw knowledge is a plus.
Microsoft Office knowledge.
A pro-active attitude.
Ready to get hands dirty and work in a Production environment.
Team-member attitude.
Able to work under pressured timelines.

Responsibilities:
The company is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to handle all design work at the company. The position requires a division between office time and factory time.
You will spend your time in the office on the design process for production, while the rest of the time will be spent in the factory overseeing the implementation and development of the "design to production" process.
You will be liaising with the customer on the required product, creating the design (if required) or converting the supplied design into files that can be used by the patternshop to machine production moulds, CNC jigs, 6-Axis Robot jigs and assembly jigs. You will also be responsible to follow this process through the whole process of development and production until such point that it can be handed over to production. Another aspect of the position is the design and handover of Laser Cutting work. This includes designing and modifying files to help with Laser cut products for production.
A pro-active attitude on the production floor is required to help identify areas where improvement is needed. This is necessary to streamline production and ensure a fast turnaround time of orders.
The admin side of the position includes creating and maintaining the process data sheets of all current product items. Making them easy to understand and assisting on the production floor to make the production of orders easy to understand and manufacture.
